* In the March 2020 Texas primary, voters at Texas Southern University, a historically Black university in Houston’s Third Ward neighborhood, reported waited times exceeding 6 hours.

* In the June 2020 Georgia primary election, voters in the predominantly Black Old Fourth Ward neighborhood of Atlanta reported waiting up to 5 hours to cast a vote.

Long lines and wait times have a significant impact. They cost voters time and money. They discourage eligible and registered voters from voting. And they can reduce turnout enough to determine outcomes in an election.
